Open ended therapy is costly in time and money. Sometimes the “get to know you” phase can take 4 sessions and cost over $1000. Don’t get me wrong, it can absolutely be worth the time and money investment (and may even be the majority of the time). But psychotherapy doesn’t always have to be a grand journey where your therapist walks alongside you every step of the way.
Like any kind of travel, some will benefit most from a private guide and some intrepid travelers prefer a good map, compass, and a skills crash course before setting out on the adventure of life. I get it…me too.
Accelerated Therapy provides the unique opportunity to get straight to work. And it is work. The work consists of reflective preparation, an extended and intensive therapy session, take-home skills to practice, and a brief follow-up. You will walk away from Accelerated Therapy with a clear sense of where you are stuck in the struggle for wellbeing, what you’d like to be moving toward in your life, and a small set of powerful skills to actually help take the next steps.
Although the focused intensity and commitment of Accelerated Therapy is a transformational catalyst for change, it is not a magic pill. It simply sets you up to be able to take personally meaningful and liberating action in your life that brings a degree more vitality day by day.
And the secret is that “Accelerated” is really more like “jumpstarting.” The intent is always to have the current session fully meet your needs with zero obligation or expectation of an additional session. Nonetheless, sometimes we could all use a little extra follow-up whether 1 month or 1 year down the road. It is always an option to do another intensive Accelerated session or explore other options.
