Therapy with Dr. Rosales will help you learn crucial psychological skills to respond more effectively to the challenges you face.  Therapy doesn’t magically get rid of life’s pains, but it can help you get unstuck and re-engaged in a richly meaningful life.

Sessions are approximately 50 minutes. 

Dr. Rosales does not accept insurance. Not using insurance can afford greater flexibility and a more limited paper trail.  However, Dr. Rosales can gladly provide a ‘superbill’ for you to submit for reimbursement.

Therapy with Dr. Rosales is typically weekly. This provides enough frequency to keep momentum and time between to practice new skills and habits. However, meeting every two weeks or even monthly is an option.

All content of therapy is strictly confidential.  There are a couple of exceptions that are largely centered on professionally supporting your ongoing treatment and potential safety concerns.  A full and detailed description is included in the initial therapy engagement.

Rates are based on Dr. Rosales’ years of experience and expertise. Each service has different rates and all rates are increased annually. For example, accelerated therapy (1-4 sessions) is far more intensive and comes with a corresponding higher rate… but it also costs less time and potentially significantly less than ongoing therapy.  Please inquire to learn more and see what is the right fit for you.

The best way to find out is to set up an initial conversation! Feeling like you have a good ‘fit’ with your therapist is a surprisingly powerful factor for effective treatment.  A quick 15 minute phone call can help and a full first session can give you even more data for your ‘gut’ to know if it is likely to be a trusting partnership.

Dr. Rosales can provide a more clear estimate of sessions after having an in-depth initial appointment.  Many clients find that 8-10 sessions is ideal. Dr. Rosales is experienced accelerated therapy that may be fewer sessions (1-4), but some life challenges do benefit from support over a longer period of time. Rest assured, you will never be trapped in therapy!

Dr. Rosales works in Los Gatos, CA.  In person walk-and-talk therapy sessions are in a Los Gatos park and all other appointments are on a secure videoconferencing platform.

Accelerated Therapy Works

Ongoing and open-ended therapy is exactly what some people need. But not everyone. Sometimes you just need a well-timed conversation that provides key insights, critical training, and a clear roadmap for next steps. Process, not Disorder

Cutting edge clinical research focuses on mental health through a more holistic lens of whole person processes rather than a collection of symptoms. Diagnoses don't heal, but understanding and working with the underlying processes can. A process-driven approach helps to ensure the skills you learn with me will stick with you and be helpful across contexts and future challenges.

Acceptance & Commitment

Acceptance is a funny word. Its roots tell us it is about being willing to receive what is offered. Difficult experiences rarely seem like something we want to. receive. However, the robustly research-backed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy/Training (ACT) helps us to learn how to receive life as a 'gift' and to pivot toward our deepest values and commitments. ACT helps us to live a rich, meaningful, purposeful life even in the midst of the inevitable pains that arise.

Liberation

The world is sometimes a treacherous place where power is abused in service of oppression. All of my work is through the lens of Liberation Psychology's appreciation of the need to confront, critique, and challenge the systems of oppression in our societies. Personal liberation is not complete without collective liberation.

Therapy or Coaching?

The difference between therapy and coaching can be confusing. As a general rule of thumb, if you feel like you are stuck in difficult thoughts and/or emotions, therapy may be the better fit for you. If you feel like you are functioning well in your daily life, but could use the extra structure, support, and accountability to build new habits and strengthen your wellbeing, then coaching may be the better fit. Don't hesitate to set up an initial phone call to learn more.

Training or Consulting

Trainings can be a powerful way in increase awareness, build a concrete skill, or get an important conversation started. They are also limited to a single event or series.

Consulting can help your organization uncover core challenges, design solutions, and implement new practices over a series of in-depth conversations, trainings, evaluations, and feedback sessions.

You and I both know that there is no single magical solution. However, change always starts somewhere with someone. When we are able to find personal liberation from the internal and external pressures that constrain us, we are freed up to exercise our increased personal power for the liberation of others. My approach is designed to give you the necessary psychological skills to tap into a more abundant empowerment that makes collective liberation possible.
